This poor fella was at the Ruidoso Humane Society of Lincoln County, NM.
I was told that he'd been roaming all around Ruidoso; like he was DUMPED.
He first was "bouncy" when they first got him; but by the time I came onto to scene
there, he'd lost his "bounce".
He looked so sad and "forlorned"; and so full of mats and knots that he had sores
under those.
I took him home with me and immediately started to "demat" him. He was hurting
from the mats; and trying to demat him; didn't feel any better. It was something that was so necessary beacuse
his skin under those mats were the size of a big man's fist. The skin was "raw" from no care and grooming.
I had to cut through one that was hard like a rock; the process took a total of
a week!
Then I bathed him. The dirt from his coat was the same color of this page!
Whoever had him before I'd like to find them and do the same thing to them....leave them unclean, ungroomed and unwashed and
see how their skin would be; hurting and rotting I'm sure.
This fella and non-aggressive; and a typical Aussie temperment. He is smart,
alert, and sometimes I see in his eyes; "why?"
I gave him a name; "LEVI" as he was tattered and abadoned like an old pair of Jeans.
He's up for ADOPTION; but it's going to be a bit as he's got some health concerns
to take care of. We are still working on his grooming, and he's indicated to us that he doesn't like any petfood with
any "fish" products in it for him. So we have to investigate special dogfood that does not have that in it; as he won't
touch it. He'll drink; so I've had to develope a "formula" for him so he won't loose any weight.
It would appear that he's around 2 years old from a exam I did.
For now; he needs sponsoring to help to defray special needs costs of, diet, Vetting,
training classes, and just to learn how to trust and bond with a GOOD human.
